A journey through a flooded chennai

It was a November month in 2021. The monsoon rains have hit Chennai in a horrible way with many roads and houses submerged in rain water. One would say that stay at your house during this situation but for me I can't do at that situation.

This blog shows about my journey in 12695 Chennai Central- Thiruvananthapuram express during a floody day in Chennai

It all occurred in 7th November 2021 when I had to return to Thiruvananthapuram from Chennai. The rains on previous few days had made sure that roads and railway track where flooded. I had my train from Chennai Central. I was staying in vadapalani. So to reach station auto drivers and cab drivers where afraid to drive because of the condition of the road. So we choosed metro to reach Chennai Central railway station. Which was a good decision. It costed 50rs to get from vadapalanji to Chennai Central. We reached Central Railway station at 2:30 pm our train was scheduled to leave at 3:20 . But for our horror the Buckingham canal was overflowing. which means train service cannot be operated to Chennai Central. We were in a tensed mode with out knowing whether our train is cancelled or not the poor staff in railway information room was also in the same doubt. Luckily for us around 4:30 pm the water level in Buckingham canal reduced which meant that train service resumed from Chennai Central. Dual mode shunter from arrakonam shed (23082) shunted our train at 4:30 pm . And the lead locomotive for our train got coupled at 4:50 pm and we departed at 5:30pm to Thiruvananthapuram
